Thought I'd share a page I completed this weekend. I am a member of The Scrap Room, www.scrap-room.com and I receive the kits each month. Recently, I also started perusing their message boards and forums for scrapbooking chit-chat and such. Each month they have challenges for their kits and this LO is in response to a 4 kits in 1 challenge. Each month there are 4 kits in the club and this challenge is to use at least one thing from each kit on one LO. This month was a little difficult as two of the kits had a masculine feel and two had a feminine feel (in my view, at least). I matched up some of the paper with this pic of my older brother and my niece and went from there. I love how the LO has a mix of masculine and feminine vibes, since that was the feeling I was going for. I wanted to document how much my older brother has changed since we were younger and what a great father he is. Thanks for looking!

Just wanted to write a quick post tonight. I have been busy making items for my etsy store, www.playswithpaper828.etsy.com , that are halloween themed. Eek! I can't believe it is almost that time of the year again. Well, I will be posting more this weekend but for now, here is a quick peak at one of my items. It is a 5 x 7 frame that I have stitched. All you have to do is slip a 4 x 6 pic in and voila! Scrapbook page almost complete!

I haven't been able to create as many LOs lately as I would like to since the best part of summer came at the end! Earlier in the summer it was raining so much here in the Northeast that I didn't mind at all being inside and creating. Lately however it has been nice out and I have been enjoying the weather. Last weekend my husband and I finally got the mulch in our garden that we have been trying to all summer! Oh well, at least we'll get to enjoy it next year!
I did get a chance to finish this LO of a picture of my niece taken at my wedding last year. When I got this kit from The Scrap Room a couple months ago, I instantly thought of this picture. We had asked the photographer to get lots of pics of the people at the wedding and she really came through. Her assistant actually got on the floor while my older brother held the tablecloth up to get this pic. I love the ray of light on her, she looks like an angel, so I decided to title this LO "angel child".
I had to take a pic of this LO instead of scanning it in due to it's "bumpy" nature. I added a lot of embellishments, including some 3D butterflies I made using my mom's cuttlebug, some vintage ribbon and buttons I got on Etsy and a rub-on image I enhanced with rhinestones in the lower lefthand corner. I also added her initial with an acrylic letter I outlined with some stickles and chipboard letters I edged with silver glitter (a messy endeavor!). I love the way this LO came out, the hard part now is going to be putting it in her album!
I hate to say that summer is coming to an end, but it is! Fall is definitely approaching and the weather has gotten cooler! I am hard at work making some halloween items for my etsy shop, http://www.playswithpaper828.etsy.com, come check them out!

A new me....

Well hello to the big world of blogging! I already have a small blog at scrapbooksetc.com but I have been looking for a way to express my creativity a little more lately. Well, blogging world, here I am!

I am very proud of myself for not only being able to start this blog but to also make it function and have the RSS feed to my etsy store at the bottom! This was a great achievement by itself, so I am feeling quite accomplished.

The point of this blog however is not to bore you with my limited technological ablities but to wow you with my creativity, so I will show some of that off now. I have not been making very many scrapbook pages lately, since it is summer and nice outside. However, I have had the occasion to make quite a few cards lately. I have decided to only use the scraps I have in my container and no new paper as a way to use up my ever growing stash of scraps. It is my philosophy that anything larger than 1" x 1" is useable, so my scrap collection is huge! The following cards are made only with scraps and I am very pleased with the way they came out. Now, I only have to make more scrapbook pages so that I can accumulate more scraps for cards! Hehehehe......

A card for a retiring co-worker: I got the scraps from the August kits from the scrap-room
Several Thank You cards for co-workers: Notice how I used the same stamp set for all three!!

Well, that's all for now! Hope everybody had a great Labor Day weekend!
