Spring Beauty

Here is the latest LO I made. We have a Cherry Tree right outside of our condo that I get to see every morning in the Spring before work, loaded with it's beautiful flowers. It certainly is the best remedy for those gotta-go-to-work blues!

I used part of the Fancy Pant's Road Show kit from this month's The Scrap Room kit and the sketch Julie Bonner made for The Scrap Room this month.
Other supplies: Bazzill CS, trim, ribbon, buttons, pearl brads, vintage hat pins, American Crafts Thickers and Rub-On Alphas, Jenni Bowlin Butterfly

Happy Mother's Day!

A little early but Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in the world. Whether biological or not, you are what makes the world a better place! I'm wishing this a little early since I won't have time to stop in tomorrow since we are visiting both sets of parents. Here are the cards I made for my mother and mother-in-law:

I used a new ribbon-rose tutorial I found at the blog Ideas for Scrapbookers to make the flowers and they are soooooo stinkin' easy! These are literally my second and third ones. I love the cards and they each have their own personality, just like our moms! I used a sketch from The Scrap Room for these.

My New Favorite Layout

I made this layout using a sketch from Let's Scrap and I used a song from Scrapping the Music from a few weeks ago. The song was Will Smith's version of "Just the Two of Us" and one of the lines goes.....Just the two of us, Building Castles in the Sky. I immediately though of a pic of my two cats in the window. When I saw the sketch I knew that it was perfect to use and I wanted to make a whimsical fun page of my two cats enjoying their window seat. I just love how it came out! The Bling frame from Making Memories really adds the perfect touch!

Bad Blogger!

Wow, this month just flew by! I can't believe it's been so long since I blogged! In a couple of days I will be back to share some LO's I made this month but until then I will share a LO I made today, National Scrapbooking Day! This is a LO for a friend so I didn't put any pics on it. This was made using a sketch over at Sassy Lil' Sketches this week. The only thing I had to do was rotate one of the pics in the sketch. Otherwise, the perfect sketch! Sorry about the horribly crooked photo but I have already mailed the LO!

I have been looking for new techniques all over the web these days and last week I found the perfect tutorial on how to make spiral flowers. I had seen some of these on LO's recently and I couldn't wait to find out how to make my own! The video is here on You Tube: Spiral Flower Video.
There are many more videos and how-to's on the web showing you how to make these but this was the most helpful tutorial for me to follow and really understand the process.

Last night I made a LO with these spiral flowers. I cut the circles out with my cricut and then rolled up the spirals I had cut out. I did let them spring back out a little to make a more relaxed flower before I glued them to the bottom of the spiral. Here is the LO and some close-ups of the flowers:

Another technique that I have been intrigued by is punching out a shape and lifting the LO above another piece of cardstock to create a recessed area to hold embellishments. I chose to do that in this LO also and I am very pleased with the results. It is hard to show in a picture, but it makes the embellishments stand out just a little bit more. This LO was made using part of my March kit from The Scrap Room and a sketch challenge posted there.

Any new techniques that you are interested in and hoping to give a try?

First Wedding Album Page!

Finally got around to working on the first page to my wedding album. Since we have been married for one and a half years already, I thought it was about time!! I recently went to a new LSS and loaded up on embellishments. It was so much fun to play with them and group them that I had a blast working on this page. I think it is a great page to set the tone for our wedding album.

Tonight I have been working on a page about our first place. One of the kits from The Scrap Room this month was just perfect for it! Will have to share later!

Can't believe it's March already!! I am so looking forward to warmer days and NO SNOW! Until then, I will have to spend my dark New England nights scrappin' away! Here is a LO that I completed for my Dad's 65th birthday...eeks! I saw the Feb. challenge over at Scrap A Little to include a number on a birthday LO and thought this was the perfect way to showcase his big day. By the way...he's a Valentine's Day Baby! We were definitely the only people in the restaurant with a big party and celebrating a birthday! I chose to include the number in the bottom right hand corner so my dad wouldn't have a heart attack when he saw the LO! Also, the pic in the middle of the three is a picture that my little brother drew for him since he forgot a card. It also highlights the number 65, so I didn't want to go overboard. :o)

Thanks for looking and have a great night! Off to do some more scrappin'!
